Francesca Lollobrigida's son captures hearts in an adorable Olympic moment

Francesca Lollobrigida added another impressive achievement to her Olympic record this week, though it was her son who took center stage during the post-race press conference.

After clinching the gold medal in speed skating at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games, Lollobrigida faced questions from reporters. Her young son, Tommaso, was sitting next to her, insisting on making his presence known.

As she spoke to Rai Sport, Tommaso stretched out his hand to his mother, playfully trying to quiet her down. Lollobrigida chuckled and attempted to ward him off while still answering the interview questions.

In an amusing turn, her son even removed her hat while she was engaged in conversation.

Lollobrigida, also celebrating her 35th birthday, set a new Olympic record in the women’s 3,000 meters with a time of 3:54.28.

“It’s amazing having my family here supporting me. Being here in Italy feels like a dream come true,” she expressed.

She made history as the first Italian woman to win a speed skating gold medal and the first Italian athlete to secure gold at this year’s Olympics.

2026 Winter Olympics

Previously, Lollobrigida had brought home silver and bronze medals from the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “One day he’ll be proud of me, not just because of this victory, but for everything we’ve experienced together. It’s not merely about being champions; it’s about the path we’ve walked.” She emphasized, “I want to show that it’s possible to be a mother and come back even stronger.”

Overjoyed by her win, she revealed that there were times earlier this year when she contemplated stepping back from her career entirely.

“At one point, I really wanted to quit,” she admitted. “But those who believed in me urged me to keep fighting.”
