Update on Francisco Lindor’s Injury
DENVER – Francisco Lindor participated in pre-game activities on Friday, yet he was still absent from the Mets’ starting lineup for the second consecutive game due to discomfort in his right foot.
The shortstop had been diagnosed with an issue concerning his right pinky toe after he was hit by a pitch in a game against the Dodgers earlier in the week.
“I feel somewhat optimistic about it today,” manager Carlos Mendoza mentioned before the Mets’ match-up against the Rockies. However, he added, “I’ll keep an eye on him and communicate with him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back for Saturday or soon after.”
Ronnie Mauricio took on the shortstop position in Lindor’s absence. Mauricio’s previous starts were noted as he was recalled while playing at third base.
Mendoza emphasized wanting to utilize a switch hitter and mentioned that shortstop is likely Mauricio’s natural position.
In other news, Sean Manaea made his first minor league rehabilitation appearance for Single A Brooklyn, throwing 36 pitches during one inning. Unfortunately, he gave up four runs on four hits while recording two strikeouts, marking his first left-handed outing of the season. Manaea has been dealing with some leg issues since the start of spring training.
Brandonnimo, hailing from Wyoming, has a notable performance history at Coors Field, with a batting average of .365 over 19 games played there.
Nemo, the standout player, was safe on 17 of his 19 games at Coors Field, further showcasing his capabilities.
