Francisco Lindor’s key error sinks Mets in sloppy loss to Twins

MINNEAPOLIS — The Mets benefited from this road trip from sloppy play by their opponents, but on Tuesday night they had their own disappointment on that front.

It was one play, but it was enough to shape the game. Francisco Lindor launched three innings, leading to two unfortunate runs, and the Mets never regained the lead in a 6-3 loss to the twins on target field.

This wasn’t all Lindor – the Mets were wasting chances at the plate and flaunting their unusual bullpen performance, but the team’s four short stop errors in their first 17 games are certainly worth noting.

Especially from the players in Gold Glove conversations in his position.

Lindor is not offensively yet, and owns 0.641 OPS, 5-5, per night.

Lindor hit to finish the game after Mets placed two runners on base for the ninth time, following a double play that failed by Twins Error and a sinister.

Tylor Megill wasn’t his sharpest over five innings, allowing four runs (two of which weren’t won) with eight hits on three strikeouts.

Megill has yet to complete six innings at the start of the season, but he owns an ERA 1.40.

Alonso made a passionate start with a two-out homer in the first inning of the game’s first run.

The explosion was Alonso’s fifth in the season and the second on a road trip, giving him 20 RBIs. The first baseman started the day with a 1.136 OPS.

Lindor’s fielding error in the three innings led The Twins to score two unknown runs 2-1.

Lindor should have been the third out of Ty France’s grounder, allowing Harrison Bader to score. Carlos Correa’s follow-up RBI single brought his second run.

Soto’s second homer in many games tied 2-2 in the fourth. Soto jumped to a 1-1 changeup from the Bailey Over and cleared the right field fence for Homer’s third time this season.

After Trevor Larnach was pitched leading from the bottom of the inning, Ryan Jeffers hit a shot against Megill at the bottom of the inning, which initially dominated the home run.

However, a review of the replay showed that the ball hit the top of the left field fence, gaining a boundary for play.

Jeffers’ shots were reduced to doubles, with the twins managing only one run in the innings.

Buxton took the fifth lead and second, stealing before racing home against the infield drawn by Louis Sanger Acknya from third on the French grounder.

A 10-inning scoreless streak to begin Max Kranick’s season was snapped for the sixth time when Eduard Julian delivered an RBI single that gave the twins a 5-2 lead.

The seventh Louis Torrens double gave the Mets runners a second and third runner in one (Mark Bientos opened with a single), but Jesse Turniker’s sacrifice fly was brought into the inning’s only run.

Brooks Lee faced Cranick in the seventh to lead the twins 6-3.

Kranick, who joined the game, had his opponent restrained at .063 OPS.
