Frank Ragnow Returns to the Lions
This Wednesday, Lions fans eagerly welcomed back Frank Ragnow, a four-time Pro Bowler. After news surfaced that the 29-year-old center would come out of retirement to rejoin the team, Detroit supporters inundated his wife, Lucy Ragnow’s, Instagram with congratulatory messages.
“Welcome!!! We missed you all! The work is not done yet! LFG!!!!!,” one fan commented excitedly.
Another fan expressed gratitude on behalf of all supporters, saying, “We all saw the news about Frank. We also want to thank the players’ families because we know this is a sacrifice for you guys too. Thank you. Can’t wait to see you all again at Ford Field!!”
“Happy Franksgiving! Go 🦁,” was a playful remark from a user.
Drafted in the first round from the University of Arkansas in 2018, Ragnow has spent his entire career with the Lions, receiving second-team All-Pro honors three times—in 2020, 2023, and 2024.
He had shocked fans with his retirement announcement earlier this summer. “The last few months have been extremely difficult as I come to the realization that my football journey has come to an end and I am officially retiring from the NFL,” Ragnow shared on Instagram.
Reflecting on his decision, Ragnow admitted he had tried to convince himself he was healthy, but ultimately realized it was time to focus on his health and family. “This was one of the hardest decisions of my life,” he said, expressing immense gratitude for the team and its fans.
Initially, he announced his retirement after the Lions finished with a solid 15-2 record and made it to the divisional round of the playoffs, only to lose to the Commanders.
Currently, the Lions hold a 7-4 record and are vying for an NFC playoff spot. They are set to face their division rivals, the Packers, on Thanksgiving Day.
As for Ragnow’s playing return, reports suggest his first potential game with the Lions could be against the Cowboys next Thursday, but that seems unlikely. A more feasible return date might be December 14 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Lucy, a certified Pilates instructor, has been a supportive figure at Lions games over the years. The couple, married in 2021, are parents to two children.
