Frankie Muniz’s Journey Through Childhood Stardom

Jane Kaczmarek, who played the mother in the beloved series “Malcolm in the Middle,” recently shared her thoughts on Frankie Muniz, who portrayed her son in the show. She recalls that even as a child, Muniz displayed remarkable common sense. “He was always a good kid,” Kaczmarek noted, mentioning that he managed to stay out of the trouble that often befalls young stars.

Bryan Cranston, who reprises his role as Muniz’s father in the upcoming revival, chimed in about Muniz’s lifestyle choices. He pointed out that Muniz, now 40, doesn’t drink or use drugs, adding, “He was always very ambitious and curious.” The two actors enjoyed a reunion, reflecting on their experiences during the original series.

Cranston also shared a humorous anecdote about Muniz’s proactive financial sense even as a teenager. He recalled how Muniz, at just 16, bought a race car. When Cranston advised him to save his money, Muniz informed him that he had already sold the car for a profit of $40,000. “Okay, okay,” Cranston responded, clearly impressed.

Kaczmarek reminisced about moments spent together, like when Muniz discussed his plans to invest in warehouses in Australia. She laughed at the thought of a teenager venturing into real estate.

Cranston felt “warms” when reflecting on how Muniz has grown into a loving husband and father. He observed how kind and protective Muniz is towards his family and expressed admiration for the wisdom Muniz has gained over the years.

Muniz married his wife, Paige Price, in 2019, and they share a 5-year-old son, Muaz. Kaczmarek made a light-hearted remark about Muniz’s mishap last year where he broke his wrist while attempting to change a light bulb. She jokingly insisted he should steer clear of ladders in the future.

“Frankie, please never, ever put up Christmas tree lights,” she said, emphasizing the dangers of falling from ladders.

Reflecting on his life post-acting, Muniz said moving from Los Angeles to Arizona was a transformative experience for him. He mentioned that this change helped him appreciate the simpler joys of life. “I realized that I left home looking down all the time, and when I moved to Arizona, I started looking up,” he explained.

He described the hectic lifestyle in LA, where it often felt like everyone was competing for attention. In contrast, he found a sense of normalcy and ease in Arizona, which allowed him to reconnect with everyday activities. “Going to the store was a lot easier,” he noted, adding that he preferred the slower pace and less chaotic lifestyle.

When asked about his son’s future, Muniz expressed his desire for Muaz to stay away from child stardom, despite his own positive experiences in the industry. “I never want my children to go into this industry,” he said, recognizing that while his journey was fulfilling, many peers faced more challenging circumstances.

On a podcast, Muniz admitted to feelings of imposter syndrome throughout his career, often questioning how he belonged in Hollywood despite his success. “I was always lucky,” he remarked, acknowledging that he now has a deeper appreciation for the work he did.

He further addressed misconceptions about his career, particularly the label of being a “failed” actor after stepping back from the entertainment world. Muniz highlighted his accomplishments, saying, “I made 40 movies and had a TV show for seven years… I don’t know if I failed or not.”

The revival of “Malcolm in the Middle,” titled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life Isn’t Fair,” premiered recently on Hulu, showing fans just how far the characters have come.
