Franklin Graham Pays Tribute to the Life of 'Brave Fighter' Sen. Lindsey Graham

Rev. Franklin Graham Mourns Sen. Lindsey Graham

This morning, Rev. Franklin Graham expressed his sadness at the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who unexpectedly died early Sunday morning. Graham remarked on social media that he was taken aback by the news, noting that just the day before, Graham had returned from a visit to Ukraine and was set to appear for an interview in January 2019.

“Only God knows how many days we will spend on this earth,” he added. Graham reflected on the senator’s long service, which included over 20 years in the U.S. Senate and time in the U.S. House of Representatives. He also had a notable 33-year career in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a colonel in 2015. Graham requested prayers for the senator’s family, particularly for his sister, Darling, who played a pivotal role in his upbringing after their parents passed away. It’s evident that he was a robust advocate for South Carolina and the nation, and he will be sorely missed.

Senator Graham died at age 71 after a “brief, sudden illness,” as announced by his office. He had recently gained attention for winning the Republican primary in June with support from former President Donald Trump.

In a message on Truth Social, Trump wrote early in the morning, “Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest men and senators I have ever known, has passed away! He was always working and a true American patriot. Lindsey will be sorely missed!!! Details and arrangements to come. So sad!”

According to reports, Graham was involved in significant legislative efforts, including the American Voter Eligibility Protection Act (SAVE), and was a strong backer of U.S. military actions against Iran. He was recognized as a close ally of Trump.

As news broke, eyewitness reports suggested that paramedics were called to his home in Washington, D.C., late Saturday night due to a report of cardiac arrest.

In related reactions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked that America had lost a great patriot and that he had lost a dear friend, expressing condolences to Graham’s family and emphasizing the values the senator stood for.
