Franklin Graham Calls for Prayer Amidst National Turmoil
Evangelist Franklin Graham, who leads Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, has expressed deep concerns about the current state of the nation, suggesting that “our country is in trouble” due to a divisive political atmosphere. He urged Americans to unite this week for “a time of prayer and repentance.”
“If you think our country is in trouble right now, just wait,” Graham stated on X Monday afternoon. “With cities filled with hatred, anger, crime, drugs, and stark hopelessness, what can we really do?”
He acknowledged, “I’m sure, there’s a solution.” He emphasized that as a nation, our failures are significant, noting that there’s a growing shift away from God and His teachings towards a more secular mindset. “We need to seek forgiveness and turn towards God,” he urged.
In light of the recent shooting of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, which ignited protests, Graham called for prayers for national leaders and for calm in the streets. He mentioned that there are individuals intent on provoking unrest, with some wishing to dismantle the fabric of the country. “We must pray that these endeavors are thwarted, and their plans disbanded. Let’s ask God to empower the church as a beacon of peace during this unsettling time,” he added.
He concluded his message with a reminder for Americans to “pause and pray” this Wednesday at noon. “If millions of people come together to reflect on our wrongs, seek forgiveness, and turn to God, it can indeed create change,” he wrote.
Over the weekend, Graham observed that the nationwide protests against ICE seem to be fueled by “the radical socialist left, aiming to transform America into something akin to Venezuela and ultimately to undermine the country as we know it.”
