Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernández delight a Make-A-Wish child at Dodger Stadium

A day dedicated to celebrating the World Series trophy, touring Dodger Stadium, getting plenty of autographs, and snagging free merchandise took an unexpected turn when 14-year-old KK found joy in a simple pack of sunflower seeds.

This teenager, facing a serious health challenge, visited Chavez Ravine with her family on Tuesday afternoon, all made possible by Make-A-Wish and its sports partner, Fanatics.

The experience included watching a Dodgers game, but a memorable interaction with Teoscar Hernandez might have outshone everything else.

KK, whose full name is Kaylin and hails from Northern California, shared earlier that a big part of her admiration for the Dodgers came from Hernandez’s unique home run celebration. She found it amusing that he distributes sunflower seeds but claims he has no favorites among his teammates.

“He does it for everyone,” she remarked about the outfielder.

Later, KK was warmly welcomed into the dugout by Hernandez, where she witnessed the team warming up for their game against the Mets and got to participate in the sunflower seed shower ritual.

They even shared a moment of excitement as KK followed Hernandez’s lead and tossed sunflower seeds herself, culminating in a hug that lit up her face with joy.

But that wasn’t all. KK had the chance to meet her favorite player, Freddie Freeman.

During her visit to Dodger Stadium, Freeman surprised her with a personalized No. 5 “KK” jersey, took time to sign her autograph, and enjoyed a friendly chat with her family for nearly half an hour.

Topics ranged from video games to walk-off home runs, and even included a light-hearted discussion about nail painting that Freeman, who is soon to be a father, initiated.

KK was over the moon, declaring Freeman “the most amazing” and describing the experience as simply incredible. “He’s the kindest person,” she reflected with a huge smile.

Grace Farage, from the Fanatics Foundation, mentioned how KK’s dream of spending a day with the Dodgers came true just a few weeks ago, making her the 1,000th wish fulfilled through the collaboration between Fanatics and Make-A-Wish.

“It’s refreshing to see young women who are passionate about sports,” Farage stated, acknowledging the need for a wider representation of fans.

KK also had the honor of throwing a ceremonial first pitch to Freeman, who watched as the Dodgers triumphed with a narrow 2-1 win. It wrapped up a day filled with excitement and unforgettable memories, made complete with snacks.
