Great American State Fair Announced for 2026

In a recent announcement from Washington, D.C., Freedom 250 has revealed plans for the “Great American State Fair.” This extensive 16-day event is set to turn the National Mall into a lively celebration of American culture, history, and industry.

Scheduled to take place from June 25 to July 10, 2026, the fair marks a significant highlight in the United States’ semiquincentennial celebrations.

The event will span the area between the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument and is inspired by the grand World’s Fairs of the 19th century. The goal is to bring the nation together through a collective showcase of innovation and pride.

Attendees can look forward to pavilions for all 56 U.S. states and territories, each designed to showcase regional heritage and contributions to the nation’s story. Expect a true “coast-to-coast” experience, featuring everything from Maine lobster rolls to Texas-sized steaks, as well as Hawaiian hula performances and Alaskan ice carvings.

The fair will also include iconic attractions, like a 110-foot Ferris wheel and the Smithsonian’s National Carousel, alongside traditional elements such as livestock competitions and a national talent show.

Daily themes will shape the event schedule, celebrating various aspects of American life. Notable days include “Military & Veterans Appreciation Day” on June 28, “Wings of Freedom” on July 3, and “The Next 250” on the closing day, focusing on emerging fields like AI and space exploration.

Independence Day will be the highlight of the fair, featuring extended hours, a keynote speech from President Donald Trump, and, reportedly, the largest fireworks display in history.

Keith Krach, CEO of Freedom 250, noted that the fair aims to celebrate the “perseverance and pride” that characterize the American spirit.

Doug Burgum, Secretary of the Interior, also emphasized that the National Mall will be the perfect venue for sharing the nation’s narrative through the efforts of the Salute to America 250 Task Force.

Admission to the Great American State Fair will be free, but organizers are advising visitors to register in advance, anticipating millions of guests from around the world.
