And it’s another absolute rippeur. The highlight of our day should be Iga Swiatek v Naomi Osaka, but we’ve to wait for that one; no matter. Because between now and then, we have Daniel Almaier taking on the resurgent Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sofia Kenin meeting Caroline Garcia, Denis Shapovalov v Francis Tiafoe and Ben Shelton v Kei Nishikori.

Nor is that all – or anything close to it. We’ve also got Carlos Alcarax, Ons Jabeur v Camila Osorio, Andrey Rublev, Coco Gauff v Tamara Zidansek, Jelena Ostapenko, Marketa Vondrousuva, Felix Auger-Aliassime and yet more. On y va!

Important Events
Tsitsipas is hitting Lenglen hard. The drop gave him what appeared to be 0-30, but Altmaier deftly fended off a less-than-clean lob and smashed a forehand winner across the net, but Tsitsipas hung in there, returning from the spot and creating two break points, only needing one as a backhand hit the tape. Altmaier 1-3 Tsitsipas.
Can Ben Shelton be a serious contender in the majors? We’ll have to let our resident coach, Kalv Betton, be the judge of that, and we’ll have to wait and see what his son, Luke Johnson, is, because he’s playing men’s doubles now, but I really like him physically, technically and mentally. I believeHe was serving to lead Nishikori 1-0, while Volinecs beat Vondrousova (who I think is a big threat here) in the first game.
I am watching too Ben Shelton (15) vs. Kei Nishikori, Katie Volynets vs. Marketa Vondrousova (5) – for now.
We are betting on Lenglen and this should be a decent match. Altmaier is in the prime of his career at 25, having defeated Jannik Sinner at last year’s tournament, while Tsitsipas continues to improve with every clay-court match.
preamble
Hello everyone and welcome to day 4 of Roland Garros!
And there are some great matches to come. The highlight of the day is supposed to be Iga Swiatek vs. Naomi Osaka, but that will have to wait. But that’s okay, because in the meantime we have Daniel Allmeier vs. a returning Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sofia Kenin vs. Caroline Garcia, Denis Shapovalov vs. Frances Tiafoe, and Ben Shelton vs. Kei Nishikori.
But that’s not all: Carlos Alcarax, Ons Jabeur vs Camila Osorio, Andrey Rublev, Coco Gauff vs Tamara Zidansek, Jelena Ostapenko, Marketa Vondrosva, Felix Auger-Aliassime and many more. On y va!
