The second Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, the 2024 French Open at Roland Garros, will begin on Sunday, May 26. Iga Swiatek, the defending women’s singles champion and world number one, is looking to win her fourth and consecutive titles on the red clay courts of Paris, but she could be in for a tough draw.
That would put Swiatek in the second round against fellow four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, a match that could see the Polish world number one exit early on. The two have drawn wins and losses in their previous two meetings, and things probably won’t get much easier for Swiatek after that.
In addition to Osaka, 2021 champion Barbora Krejcikova could be waiting for Swiatek in the round of 16, followed by No. 5 Marketa Vondrousova and No. 11 Danielle Collins. No. 3 Coco Gauff has also been drawn into Swiatek’s half of the bracket, but the American hasn’t had much luck against her, losing to Swiatek in both the 2023 quarterfinals and 2022 final.
Swiatek is the favorite to win, having been in good form since winning on the clay courts of Madrid and Rome, but there’s another player to watch: No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka, who is playing the best game of her career and is runner-up in those two tournaments.
There’s also a hotly anticipated match between Americans Collins and Caroline Dollheide in the first round, and Elina Svitolina and Karolina Pliskova in the second round, so there’s plenty to look forward to in the relatively open women’s singles bracket.
The full women’s tournament bracket will be provided below, followed by viewing information, match schedules and results as the tournament progresses.
