Another perspective on A’ja Wilson’s intense exchange with a Fever fan during Tuesday night’s game has emerged.
In the fourth quarter of the Fever’s 99-89 victory in Game 2, which evened the series, the Aces’ star found herself in a clash with Sophie Cunningham while positioning herself in the post.
While the officials called a personal foul on Cunningham, a Fever fan disagreed, making his feelings known to Wilson and igniting the confrontation.
In a newly unveiled clip, as Wilson stepped away from Cunningham toward the basket, a fan seated close to the action pointed at her and repeatedly stated, “That’s on you.”
This fan, wearing a Fever cap, was quickly pulled back into his seat by a woman beside him, who was sporting a playoff shirt from the team, as Wilson removed her mouth guard to respond.
Ultimately, she was led away from the scene as her teammates and staff intervened to ease the tension.
As a result of this incident, Wilson received a technical foul.
Her agent, Jade-Li English, who leads women’s basketball initiatives at Klutch Sports Group, posted on X that night, sharing a clip of the fan who had been laughing and smiling.
The video has circulated widely on social media, often shared by Fever supporters suggesting Wilson’s reaction was “soft.”
One user remarked that an NBA player would certainly face suspension for similar behavior, noting that Wilson seemed to react strongly to the fan’s pointing.
The involved fan was not ejected from the game, with the Fever stating he had not breached the team’s conduct policy.
In a statement, the team explained, “Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, and the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed.”
Wilson expressed her disapproval of the fan’s behavior after the Aces’ defeat, labeling it “unacceptable.”
She wasn’t surprised that he remained in the arena, adding, “If I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me and pointing at me, I don’t give a damn what you said. I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone, that is unacceptable. You don’t know me to step toward me and point at me. I’m not for that at all. … That there is unacceptable. How he gets back in the game because they said he didn’t do anything, of course he did.”
Wilson had a standout performance in Game 1, scoring 38 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, blocking four shots, and making two assists, while shooting an impressive nearly 79 percent from the field. This achievement made her the first player in WNBA history to record 35 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 75 percent in a single game. It also marked her second playoff game with such stats, a feat that the rest of the league has only managed twice collectively in playoff history.
Despite her 22 points in Game 2, it wasn’t sufficient to secure a sweep on the road for the Aces.
The series, now best-of-three, is heading to a critical deciding game in Las Vegas on Thursday night, with the Aces aiming to clinch their second consecutive championship.
