Shooting Incident Over Fries in Fort Worth
Authorities in Fort Worth reported that a dispute between two friends regarding shared fries escalated dramatically, resulting in one shooting the other in the head.
The altercation took place on January 28 around 6:30 p.m. at an apartment complex located near the 9500 block of Jeremiah Drive, prompting police to be dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators from the Gun Violence Task Force later determined that a disagreement had erupted between the friends after one refused to share fries with the other.
The situation intensified, leading to gunfire, and the shooter fled the apartment shortly after. Police, despite interviewing several witnesses and identifying the suspect, were unable to locate him initially in the area.
Officers provided CPR to the victim until emergency services arrived. He was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead several hours later.
LeMarque Darden, 18, was arrested a couple of days later and now faces murder charges for the shooting death of 19-year-old Jarvis Davis.
Darden was initially booked into the Fort Worth City Jail and later transferred to the Tarrant County Correctional Center, where he remains in custody without bail, according to jail records.
Davis’s mother, Cherika Kennedy, recounted that she was enjoying a meal at home when the argument over the fries began. She expressed disbelief that such a trivial matter had led to such a tragic outcome, stating, “He didn’t think he was going to get shot, especially over the fries.”
Kennedy shared that her son grew up in Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana, before moving with his family to Texas in 2020. She described him as a loving person with a bright future ahead, noting the void his absence has left in their lives.
In a heartbreaking note on a GoFundMe page, she reflected on Davis’s character: “He was a loving son, a protective brother, and a fun-loving uncle to his three nieces. His absence leaves a deep void in our hearts.”
