Trump Considers Reclassifying Marijuana
Recent reports suggest that former President Trump is contemplating the reclassification of marijuana, potentially moving it from Schedule I to Schedule III under federal law. This would imply a lower risk classification.
However, Liz Wheeler, host of BlazeTV, expressed her disapproval of this idea. She recently shared her thoughts on social media and faced significant backlash.
In her posts, Wheeler refers to studies illustrating the dangers of marijuana. Her stance is clear: “Marijuana is a dangerous drug that leads to psychosis, schizophrenia, and ultimately violence. We should clearly ban it.” She points to various studies that support her argument that cannabis use is linked to serious mental health issues.
For instance, she cites findings that indicate marijuana could account for up to 30% of schizophrenia cases in young men. Moreover, teenagers using cannabis by the age of 15 are reportedly more than four times as likely to experience schizophrenia compared to their peers who do not use the drug.
Wheeler also referenced research published in the Journal of American Psychiatry, which highlights a moderate link between cannabis use and physical violence, regardless of other contributing factors like socioeconomic status.
She brought attention to crime statistics in Colorado since the drug’s legalization, noting a 21% increase in crime rates, a 57% rise in traffic fatalities, and a 23% uptick in suicides.
Wheeler concluded her thoughts with a bold statement: “Marijuana makes America sick, perceived, more dangerous, and more disgusting. Why is this even a question? It is banned.” She seemed taken aback by the heated reactions she received, clarifying that it wasn’t her intention to provoke outrage.
Reflecting on the intense discourse, she questioned whether society, having normalized and legalized marijuana, has actually improved or worsened. “It seems clear to me that society is getting much worse,” she remarked.
