Emotional Reunion for Florida State Football Player
Florida State University football player Ethan Pritchard experienced a heartfelt reunion with his teammates during practice on Friday. Just a day after FSU’s win against the Alabama Crimson Tide in August, Pritchard was tragically shot in the back of the head. Following the incident, he spent several weeks in recovery at the hospital.
Upon his release from the hospital, Pritchard moved to a rehabilitation center in Jacksonville. When he left the center on Thursday, he was greeted with applause and a celebratory bell-ringing ceremony—a touching moment marking his progress.
He is set to be present at the Seminoles’ final home game against Virginia Tech this Saturday. Interestingly, Pritchard made his way to practice on Friday in a power wheelchair, eager to reconnect with his teammates and coaches.
Pritchard, a freshman linebacker, hails from Florida and has found himself caught in a terrible case of mistaken identity. Investigators confirmed he was not at fault when he was shot outside an apartment complex near Tallahassee on August 31. At the time, he was simply dropping off family members after a gathering.
Four individuals have been arrested in connection to the shooting. In an interview, Pritchard recounted the harrowing experience: “I remember everything…I just put the car in reverse and backed up, and I don’t remember what happened after that.” It’s truly remarkable that he is now able to move again, having initially lost mobility on one side when he entered the rehabilitation center. Pritchard continues to recover and improve day by day.
