Ellis wrote in a letter to Willis on Friday:

As Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Supervisors, I am responding to recent court filings alleging that you misused county funds and received valuable gifts and personal favors from contractors/recipients of county funds. You must ask reasonable questions about the allegations contained in your submission.

These allegations involve your decision to appoint Nathan Wade as special counsel in a case in which former President Trump is a co-defendant. Mr. Wade (1) lacks experience as a prosecutor in complex cases of this type, (2) has paid for multiple joint leisure trips, and (3) is in a romantic relationship with you. It has been with. It was not disclosed to the court or the parties to the case.

Separate from a potential investigation by the State of Georgia, this situation will require you to investigate whether county funds provided for your office's operations and prosecutorial functions were used appropriately, and the disbursement of county funds to Mr. Wade. You need to check whether it has been converted. When used for personal gain in the form of travel grants or other gifts.

Wade filed for divorce from his wife the day after Willis hired him on November 2, 2021.

The allegations of inappropriate relationship were first raised in a filing last week by lawyers for co-defendant and former President Donald Trump aide Mike Roman. The suit argued that Willis personally benefited from the case through lavish vacations with Wade, and that the charges against Willis should be dropped and Willis and Wade removed from the case.
