A group of New Jersey House Democrats is complaining that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and other Republican border state governors are “imposing” a “humanitarian crisis” on the Garden State.
New Jersey officials say buses of undocumented immigrants have been dropped off at various New Jersey Department of Transportation stations in recent days. Many of the immigrant families dropped off there then made their way to New York City on their own.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed an executive order in late December requiring charter bus companies to give at least 32 hours' notice before dropping off migrants in sanctuary cities.
“We, the members of New Jersey’s Congressional delegation, write to you in hopes of working together to address the growing humanitarian crisis being thrust upon New Jersey by many Southern governors,” the four members wrote. On Thursday, it sent a letter to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy. .

The group specifically singled out Mr. Abbott as the first Republican border state governor to begin sending immigrants to Democratic-run cities to ease the burden on Texas communities.
“Governor Abbott's motivation for busing is purely political, exploiting the lives of people fleeing hardship and turmoil,” the lawmakers wrote. “He and other governors who have sent his people north have done so without the care of the individual in mind.”
“Despite the actions of these leaders, it is our solemn duty as Americans to ensure that we do all we can to help those fleeing conflict, war, and disaster.”

Democrats asked Murphy whether his office had any communication with the Republican governors who are sending the buses, and whether he had any contact with Adams.
They also asked what resources are being provided to migrants and the areas where they are dropped off.
“We would also like to request a meeting with your office to discuss future plans for how to handle incoming buses,” they wrote.

Murphy's office issued a statement Tuesday regarding the buses, saying, “My administration is following the recent arrival of several buses carrying immigrant families at various New Jersey Transit stations. New Jersey. “The state is primarily used as a transit point for all or almost all of these families.” “All continued their travels en route to their final destination, New York City. We are coordinating closely with our federal and local partners on this issue, including our colleagues across the Hudson River.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Abbott's office for comment on the letter, but did not immediately receive a response.
