Super PAC Advocates for AI-Friendly Republican Lawmakers
A super PAC named Leading the Future, which focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), has shared a list of Republican incumbents it backs.
This list, titled “Leading the First Round of Future House Republican Champions,” features key figures such as House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), Rep. Russell Frey (R-SC), Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX), and Rep. August Pflueger (R-TX).
Zack Moffatt, a co-strategist for Leading the Future, noted the significance of supporting conservative leaders committed to maintaining the U.S. as a front-runner in AI innovation. He expressed pride in these lawmakers for their understanding of the necessity of a robust American presence in the AI sector, highlighting the ambitious vision set forth during the Trump Administration. Moffatt emphasized that these members of Congress will be pivotal in developing national policies that ensure basic safety standards while safeguarding families and children.
The group of Republicans on the endorsement list also includes Reps. Rich McCormick (R-GA), John Joyce (R-PA), Jay Obanalte (R-CA), and Rudy Yakim, alongside Reps. Brian Jacques (R-GA), Riley Moore (R-WV), Mike Haridopoulos (R-FL), and Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA).
These lawmakers are seen as part of a wider network of current representatives who have engaged with the AI industry and are taking a leadership role in this evolving landscape.
In a report from August 2025 by Lucas Nolan, it was revealed that “Silicon Valley leaders” are investing over $100 million into organizations advocating for supportive AI policies. The Wall Street Journal also highlighted that these tech leaders are rallying to form Leading the Future, which signals their intention to influence the approaching midterm elections.
Notable founders of Leading the Future include venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI President Greg Brockman. Discussions among key figures such as Colin McCune from Andreessen Horowitz and Chris Lehane from OpenAI earlier this year revolved around shaping favorable policies for the AI sector while avoiding overly restrictive regulations.
Leading the Future aims to push a forward-thinking agenda for AI innovation both in Washington, D.C., and across various states. It is actively involved in the political realm by identifying and supporting pro-AI candidates to further innovation policies at both state and federal levels.
