There is growing concern over the highly publicized return of the fraudulent Fire Festival after the government of Mexico, which was supposed to be hosting this year's music event.
Billy McFarlandthe creator of the tragic 2017 Fire Festival, which scams people out of thousands of dollars, served only about four years from 2018 to 2022, but was sentenced to six years in prison for his financial crimes.
“I'm sure a lot of people will think I'm going to try this again and be crazy,” McFarland said in a statement. “But I'm obsessed with not doing it again. After years of reflection and thoughtful planning, the new team and I have a great plan for Fire 2.”
The three-day music and arts event is scheduled to take place in Islam Geres, Mexico from May 30th to June 2nd, but the government of Isla Mujeres does not seem to be that sure.

“But for that to happen, Billy has to do what he did at the point he didn't do, and for Festival 1, he has to involve proven and experienced events and festival experts who actually offered events and festivals on this scale on this scale,” Breen said. “If he does, his stated vision for Feel Festival 2 cannot actually be realized. We still can't see if he is actually doing it.”
