G7 Countries Denounce Pahalgam Terror Attack, Urge for Reduced Tensions Between India and Pakistan

New Delhi

On Saturday, G7 nations called for de-escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan, which have intensified following reported missile strikes.

The leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, the US, and the European Union expressed strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attacks in Pahargam that occurred on April 22nd. They addressed the need for both countries to establish maximum limits in their military actions.

A heightened military presence poses a critical risk to regional stability, and they voiced deep concern over civilian safety on both sides of the border.

The G7 encouraged direct dialogue between India and Pakistan to seek peaceful resolutions and advocated for immediate de-escalation. They pledged to closely monitor the situation and support efforts for a swift and enduring diplomatic resolution.

Canada is set to assume the G7 presidency during the leaders’ summit scheduled for June 15th to 17th, 2025, in Kananaskis, Alberta.

In related news, the Indian Ministry of Defense reported drone sightings at 26 locations along the border and the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan.

These areas include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.
