Sen.-elect Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Monday on MSNBC's “Inside” that former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), whom President-elect Donald Trump has nominated to lead the intelligence community, “It's a combination of inexperience and bad judgment,” he said.
When asked about Gabbard, Schiff said, “I think she has a combination of inexperience and poor judgment, which is not a combination you particularly want at the head of an intelligence agency.” Looking at her inexperience, she has never even served on the House Intelligence Committee. She has no military experience related to intelligence operations. She is completely new to programming in a highly complex field. ”
He added: “She defended Russia's invasion of Ukraine, echoed the Kremlin's main points, attended meetings with Bashar al-Assad, a brutal dictator who gassed his own people, and traveled to Syria to meet with him.” To argue that this person is not an enemy of the United States shows, at the very least, terrible judgment, given the ruling. And the problem is, if our allies don't trust the people running their intelligence services, Don't try to share information with us.”
Schiff added, “You can't have someone with poor judgment advise the president. This is another job of the director of national intelligence. They oversee all intelligence agencies. You have to manage the agency's priorities, but the agency also advises the president. I hope people who do Dubai have good judgment. The next president is already doing this very unhealthy and dangerous thing, like Vladimir Putin is his friend. We don't need people whispering in our ears that Assad is his friend. That's a real concern, too.”
