Dan Pfeiffer, a host of “Pod Save America” and former adviser to President Obama, has pushed back against National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard’s claim that the Obama administration orchestrated a “rebellious coup” during the 2016 election.
“I don’t think we should label this as a scandal,” Pfeiffer stated during a recent podcast episode. “It’s as if they don’t know what else to call it…”
“They can’t even clarify the allegations,” he added, insisting that the situation is easily exposed. “It just doesn’t add up.”
Last week, Gabbard alleged that the Obama administration misused the Intelligence Report to fabricate a narrative regarding Russia’s interference in the election.
She intensified her accusations by referencing a previously classified House Intelligence Committee report, which questioned European interests in the 2016 election and their support for President Trump.
Gabbard described the reported actions of the Obama administration as “the worst weaponization and politicization of intelligence in American history.”
Multiple intelligence assessments have indicated that Russia attempted to sway the election in favor of Trump, with President Vladimir Putin backing him.
At a White House press conference Wednesday, Gabbard presented evidence suggesting Obama as a key player in these efforts, hinting at potential criminal implications.
President Trump has expressed support for Gabbard, referring to the intelligence report as “unrebutted evidence” that indicates Obama incited these actions.
Former Obama speechwriter John Favreau commented during the podcast, “I think fabricating stories is a crime. I never imagined a false narrative would escalate into a coup.”
The podcast hosts, along with many other Democrats, have criticized Gabbard, especially in light of growing calls to address the Jeffrey Epstein Files.
Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.), the leading Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, remarked, “It seems like the Trump administration is willing to declassify everything except Epstein.”
In Friday’s episode, Favreau questioned whether the administration could continue to face repeated “rebellious coups” amid these ongoing controversies.
