A few days before she was murdered, Gabby Petit told her ex-boyfriend she wanted to leave Brian Landry, but was afraid of how he would react, the new docusary revealed.
Petit's ex-boyfriend, identified only as Jackson, said he spoke on August 22 after the two took part in a fight with Laundry. At the time, he thought the phone was a “cry for help,” Jackson told the filmmaker behind Netflix's docusary.
Jackson recalls what Petit told him. “I have a plan. I want to leave him. I'm going to do that. I have to figure out when I should do it.” According to USA Today.
“From the sound of her voice and the way she said it,” he said. “I don't think she knew what he was going to do or what he could do.”
Petit texted her ex-boyfriend again on August 27 when she and Laundry were in Jackson, Wyoming, telling her that the town's name reminded her of him. According to Fox News Digital.
The new Docuseries released previously invisible text messages from Petito, and published interviews with parents and other loved ones.
Text messaging laundry starting August 27th was seen with workers at a Mary Pigletttex Mex restaurant in Jackson. This was a catalyst for Landry's rage a few hours before Petit's murder.
The text shows the arguments he saw along with an employee derived from Petty, who claims that Petty made her sick.
Witnesses told Fox that they believe Landry is discussing money with restaurant staff and that he has returned four separate times.
Petit was finally brought to life that afternoon in surveillance footage at a nearby Whole Foods supermarket.
Soon, police in Moab, Utah, were driving with the laundry after intervening in a domestic conflict.
A few days later, Laundry strangled Petit and dumped her body at a remote Wyoming campsite, police said.
The young couple was touring the US in RVs. She was a social media-described journey leading up to her death.
After returning from a trip and hiding in her parents' Florida home, Landry reported that Petit had gone missing, causing a nationwide search that attracted the country's attention.
Laundry later wrote a handwritten note that admitted to murder by committing suicide in a nearby national park.
The new Docuseries began streaming on Netflix on Monday.
