A Star from “The Last of Us” Offers Insights on Future Seasons
The acclaimed TV series, adapted from a beloved video game franchise, debuted in January 2023, featuring Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal in leading roles.
Its inaugural season garnered praise and quickly built a devoted audience as viewers followed Ellie and Joel through a grim, post-apocalyptic landscape.
The show was known for its intense atmosphere, where the characters contended with both infected beings and hostile humans.
Update on Season Three from “The Last of Us” Star
Season two, however, seemed to lose some of the spark that made the first season a hit. Aside from maybe a couple of episodes, it appeared to have diminished in quality.
Fans remain hopeful that season three will bring a resurgence, especially since the finale of season two hinted at a major shift, focusing more on Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever.
Gabriel Luna, one of the stars, recently shared some thoughts on what might be in store for the upcoming season.
“This season has been very interesting in the way that a lot of different perspectives shift. Without giving too much away, I think those who played the game will understand this aspect. I just can’t wait for everyone to see it. We’re in the midst of shooting right now, and I have a little break,” Luna mentioned in a video for Variety.
A big reality check is that “The Last of Us” has a narrow window to keep its audience engaged.
The storyline surrounding Ellie (Ramsey) became somewhat cringeworthy towards the end, while Abby, who had a significant role in season two, stands out as a more compelling character. Dever’s performance adds to that appeal, marking a notable evolution from her days in “Justified.”
If season three doesn’t focus significantly on Abby, fans might lose their interest quickly. While Luna’s comments don’t fully inspire confidence, there’s still time to see how it unfolds.
It’s unfortunate to see how season two diverged from the excellence of its predecessor, but hopefully, there’s still a chance for redemption.
As for the release date for season three, nothing is set in stone yet, but a premiere in 2027 seems likely.
