Jets Struggle in Loss to Broncos

The New York Jets are still searching for their first win, now sitting at 0-6, and their star receiver, Garrett Wilson, is understandably frustrated.

It was a lackluster offensive performance from both the Jets and the Denver Broncos, but one moment in particular cut short Wilson’s chances during New York’s 13-11 defeat.

With only a few seconds remaining in the first half, the Jets were in a position to make something happen, perhaps even a Hail Mary. But instead, first-year offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand had a different plan, and quarterback Justin Fields seemed to just watch the clock run out without making a move.

Wilson, obviously upset, approached head coach Aaron Glenn at one point, expressing his feelings after the Jets were down by six points. Later, he shared his thoughts with reporters, saying, “I didn’t know exactly what the plan was. After I understood that, I was disappointed.”

Fields mentioned that the mindset in the locker room was “no forgiveness,” suggesting that the Jets were looking to tighten up after struggling offensively. But Wilson was clearly not on board with that approach.

“You have to make sure you don’t lose your spirit,” he remarked. “That’s obvious. We’re out there as players, so we should be like, ‘Here we go.’ I think you guys should see that. The fans, the media, you should be able to see us playing like we have nothing to lose. I don’t think that was the case today. We have 0 wins and 6 losses. Why?”

In London, the Jets’ defense did manage to provide some opportunities, stifling Denver’s usually potent offense, directed by quarterback Bo Nix. The Broncos recorded only one touchdown in the game, which came from a pass by Nix to Nate Adkins in the first half.

For the Jets, Fields completed 9 of 17 passes for a mere 45 yards, while Wilson gathered three catches for 13 yards. Overall, New York only managed 82 total yards compared to the Broncos’ 246.

After the game, head coach Aaron Glenn acknowledged, “Our players fought on enemy territory. Obviously, it wasn’t enough.”

As the frustration builds, the Jets are set to face off against the Carolina Panthers at home next week, hoping to finally turn things around.
