Garrett Wilson Signs Four-Year Extension with New York Jets
On Monday, the New York Jets and wide receiver Garrett Wilson reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension valued at $130 million, as reported by various sources.
This deal is notable for its substantial guaranteed amount, with Wilson securing $90 million. Additionally, there’s a signing bonus of $13.75 million. He also has an option bonus of $20 million for the second year and $10 million for the third year, which adds some interesting dynamics to the contract.
With two years left on his initial rookie deal, Wilson will be part of the Jets through the end of the 2030 season. The Jets drafted him out of Ohio, selecting him 10th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, where he also earned the title of Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Interestingly, despite the setbacks when Aaron Rodgers was injured early in the 2023 season, Wilson still managed impressive stats with 95 receptions, 1,042 yards, and three touchdowns that year. He continued to build on this in his third season, achieving a career high of 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns.
In a recent statement, Wilson expressed his desire to be a Jet for as long as possible, saying, “I think I’m a Jet for the rest of my life.” There’s something heartfelt about that commitment, don’t you think?
Looking ahead, there’s a new face at quarterback for the Jets in 2025—Justin Fields is set to lead the team, which could change the dynamics on the field.
