Gary Sinise Discusses American Freedom on Outkick

Gary Sinise, a well-known actor and humanitarian, recently appeared on the Outkick show “Tomi Lahren is Fearless.” During their conversation, they emphasized the importance of not taking American freedoms for granted.

Lahren noted that fans of the World Cup are venturing into rural America and small towns, pointing out that they are quite taken with these experiences. “They love it,” she said. “Simple things like using air conditioning or visiting a Buc-ee’s gas station are becoming discoveries for people worldwide. They’re fascinated not just by America itself, but by middle America as well.”

However, she introduced a contrasting idea, mentioning a Gallup poll indicating that only 36% of Democrats feel proud to be Americans. This seems surprising, considering that many visitors genuinely enjoy their time in the U.S.

Sinise shared his perspective on freedom, explaining that many people don’t fully grasp what that means. He recounted a visit to the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea, where he witnessed a North Korean guard standing just a couple of feet away. He remarked that while South Koreans understand the concept of freedom—having lived with it all their lives—the nearby soldier had no concept of what a free society is like.

“I don’t take for granted that people fought to protect these freedoms,” Sinise stated, expressing a sense of gratitude for the liberties enjoyed in America.

He reflected on everyday experiences, explaining, “I don’t take my freedom for granted. I don’t take Buc-ee’s for granted, or air conditioning. I know there are places on this planet where people don’t really understand what those things mean.”

Sinise also shared a personal anecdote about a moment in a restaurant where a person from Scotland asked if the bread was part of the meal, clearly surprised to learn that it was complimentary. “It highlights how fortunate we are,” he concluded, reinforcing the sentiment that these conveniences shouldn’t be overlooked.
