Gavin Newsom criticized for his recent call to oppose Republicans

California Governor’s Controversial Remarks Spark Outrage

California Governor Gavin Newsom is facing significant backlash following some inflammatory comments made during a recent interview. He not only called for a “fight” against Republicans but also made some bewildering remarks about violence.

Newsom, who is often viewed as a potential presidential candidate for the Democrats, was engaged in a discussion on August 20th regarding contentious issues, particularly about Texas’ controversial zoning map. During this exchange, he expressed his frustration toward Republican leaders, mentioning his view of those aligned with former President Trump.

“I understand some people might be sensitive about this. I truly respect that. But honestly, we’re on very different paths right now,” he stated, visibly irritated.

He went on to say, “We’re fueled by passion, and we’re ready to ‘punch these bitches in their mouths.'” This particular comment has drawn widespread criticism.

A video of the governor’s remarks has gone viral on social media, leading many to accuse him of carelessly promoting violence, especially in light of the recent shooting of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk at an event in Utah.

Joel Pollack, editor at Breitbart, pointed out, “This type of rhetoric was troubling back then, and it’s still troubling today,” as he shared the resurfaced clip of Newsom.

Public reaction has been mixed, with one user questioning, “Is this how a leader talks about violence?” while another added, “Does he seriously think he can be our next president?” Concerns were raised that such statements could empower individuals who may be unstable.

After Kirk’s tragic shooting, Newsom condemned the violence, labeling it as “disgusting” and urging the public to reject political violence entirely.

He also mentioned having known Kirk personally, commending him for his passion in fostering dialogues among opposing views. Newsom said, “His tragic death underscores the need for proper discourse on critical issues without resorting to violence.”

In his closing remarks, he emphasized that the best way to honor Kirk’s memory is by engaging in meaningful discussions. “In a democracy, it’s ideas that should battle, not fists,” he remarked.

The investigation into Kirk’s shooting is ongoing, with authorities still looking into the motives of the perpetrator.
