During his recent trip to Munich, California Governor Gavin Newsom took the opportunity to criticize President Trump, labeling him as “un-American.” This was Newsom’s second European trip in under a month, and he seemed eager to address Trump as soon as he arrived at the Munich Security Conference.
In his speech, Newsom stated, “Please understand that Donald Trump is not only temporary, but he may be one of the most un-American presidents to ever live at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.” He also expressed concerns about the MAGA movement, mentioning the visible “fraying” within the United States.
Prior to Munich, Newsom visited the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. His participation in this conference signals a strategic move by the Democratic Party to elevate its visibility, especially with an eye toward a potential presidential run in 2028.
