Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom endorsed fellow Californian Vice President Kamala Harris for president on Sunday after President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race earlier in the day.
Tough. Fearless. Tenacious.
At a time when our democracy and future are at stake, there is no one better suited than the Vice President of the United States to denounce Donald Trump’s dark vision and steer the country in a healthier direction. Kamala Harris.

Both politicians Apprentice Democratic kingmaker Willie Brown and Newsom have long been seen as rivals but have avoided running against each other. Newsom was long seen as Biden’s likely successor but gave way to Harris, who is also unlikely to be Biden’s running mate. rule Prohibits the Electoral College from voting for two candidates from the same state.
Harris has rapidly climbed the political ladder, first being appointed to state office through her romantic relationship with Brown, then elected district attorney of San Francisco, again with Brown’s help, narrowly winning as California’s attorney general in 2010, then defeating fellow Democrats to become a U.S. senator, where she served less than half a term, before briefly running for president in 2019.
Though she has little to show for it beyond her own political rise, if elected she would be the first Black, Asian and female president, and Democrats hope the opportunity to make history will galvanize voters.
