California Governor Gavin Newsom recently attended a lively gathering called “Vineyard Vibes” at Odette Estate Winery in Napa Valley, which took place on June 7th. The event aimed to raise funds for the Plumpjack Foundation, associated with the Napumjack Foundation.
One observer expressed disbelief as they saw Democrats sipping wine and mingling in casual outfits while riots erupted in Los Angeles. Just the day prior, aggressive protests had occurred, with individuals clashing with law enforcement and damaging property.
“I honestly couldn’t believe it,” commented a source who recorded Newsom at the wine-tasting event. “It felt like just another day for him.” Meanwhile, in downtown Los Angeles, a violent confrontation unfolded, featuring individuals throwing Molotov cocktails and setting cars ablaze with slogans like “Kill Ice” and “F-K Ice.” This unrest stemmed from aggressive actions against undocumented immigrants by immigration enforcement, leading President Trump to activate the National Guard despite objections from Newsom.
Newsom was reported to have spent about 90 minutes at the fundraiser before the military response escalated later that night.
The event promised “contemporary yet refined” wines, live jazz music, pizza, and smash burgers, touted as the ideal kickoff for summer festivities.
A spokesperson from Newsom’s office mentioned that he proudly attended a UCSF Cancer annual fundraiser in memory of his mother, who passed away from breast cancer.
The Plumpjack Foundation, as stated on its website, is dedicated to cancer prevention, education, and breaking the cycle of poverty. Newsom co-founded Odette Estate Winery over a decade ago and is speculated to be considering a presidential run in 2028. He has faced backlash in the past, particularly for attending a gathering while advising Californians to avoid socializing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
At that time, images surfaced of him and his wife, Jennifer Sebel Newsom, not wearing masks while encouraging compliance with state health regulations. After the public outrage, he acknowledged his misstep, saying he should have set a better example. Newsom has also clashed with Trump over the latter’s deployment of the National Guard, arguing that such measures wasted resources and heightened tensions, while Trump maintained it was necessary to restore order.
