Newsom’s Timing Under Scrutiny Again
Gavin Newsom seems to have made a misstep once more, raising eyebrows with the timing of his recent public appearances. This episode could be branded as yet another chapter in his ongoing saga, reminiscent of the French laundry incident.
Recall that during the height of the pandemic, Newsom faced backlash when he violated his own lockdown orders by attending an extravagant dinner at a French laundry restaurant in Napa Valley. His actions, which contradicted the very restrictions he imposed on California residents, sparked significant outrage and contributed to the recall efforts in 2021.
Now, his newest scandal may not be as egregious, but it certainly presents a less-than-flattering image for someone eyeing a higher office.

On June 7th, Newsom showcased his palate as he savored some “modern and refined” wine at a winery he helped establish. The event, called “Vineyard Vibes,” served as a fundraiser for his sister’s organization, the Plumpjack Foundation.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles was experiencing chaos, spurred by anti-police protests. A source who filmed Newsom at the gathering mentioned that he was visibly upset about hosting an event while riots erupted nearby.
“I couldn’t believe it,” the source commented. “Seeing him casually attending while there was chaos outside was surreal.”
In such a turbulent place as Los Angeles, it almost feels like mayhem is part of daily life.
For Newsom, the weekend didn’t start on the best note. He faced mockery after referring to his wife as “California’s first partner” and dealt with a significant legal setback involving President Donald Trump.
Happy birthday to my first partner in California, a wonderful mother to our four amazing children, and my partner in life, @jensiebelnewsom.
Wishing your day is as incredible as your contributions to women and children in California.

But, as is often the case, Newsom may find a way to rebound, likely as he continues navigating his relationship with the French laundry experience.
