GBI, sheriff’s office in Georgia investigating death of twins on mountain

The family of twin Georgia brothers Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis, 19, do not believe that, as authorities say, the two died in murder and suicide.

The brother, from Gwinnett County, Georgia, was found dead by hikers on March 8th at the summit of Bell Mountain, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said in a media release.

“Both men were found with gunshot wounds,” the statement said. “Preliminary investigations reveal that the death is a murderous suicide.”

According to Sunday's update, “The GBI medical inspector has completed the autopsy, but my official ruling and results have pending additional forensic tests.” The agency is assisting the Towns County Sheriff's Office for an investigation.

“My nephew wouldn't do this,” said their aunt, Yasmin Broner. I said it on the GoFundMe page Support families with commemorative fees. “They came from a love family, and the twins wanted so much for their future, they dreamed of starting their own clothing line.”

She added, “something happened in Bell Mountain,” and called for further investigation.

The twins were scheduled to fly to Boston on March 7 to visit a friend, but they never flew from their family Atlanta. He told Local Fox 5. The TV station reported that the teenager still had airline tickets in his wallet when it was found dead.

The family added that the boys had never visited the area where they were found.

“They are very protective of each other. They love each other,” their uncle, Rahim Brauner, told WXIA-TV. “They're like inseparable, I couldn't imagine them hurting each other.

“How did they end up in the mountains?” Broner asked. “They didn't hike there, they weren't there. They don't know anything about Hiawasee, Georgia. They've never even heard of Bell Mountain.
