Leslie Charlson, best known for her recurring roles in “General Hospital,” was revealed a month after her tragic death.
The daytime Emmy nominated actress has been portraying Dr. Monica Quartermain in a soap opera for nearly 50 years, but passed away on January 12th. She was 79 years old.
According to documents, Charlesson died of “the aftereffects of blunt head injuries” following a head injury. Get by TMZ.
It's unclear when she was injured, but the soap star had multiple falls in recent years, which led her to quit her on-screen career.
LA County Medical Examiner also noted that Charlesson has a history of asthma, arthritis, atrial fibrillation, and normal pressure hydrocephalus. This is a condition in which cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain, the outlet adds.
Her death was announced last month on the official ABC Soap Opera Instagram account. Executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed the news in a statement.
“It's heartening to announce the passing of my dear friend and colleague Leslie Charlesson,” writes Valentini. On Instagram.
“Her enduring legacy spans nearly 50 years in the General Hospital alone, and as Monica is the centre of Quartermain, Leslie was the beloved patriarch of the entire cast and crew. Our daily life You miss the chat, her quick wit, and her incredible presence on set.”
“On behalf of everyone at General Hospital, my sincere sympathy comes to her loved ones during this difficult time,” he added.
Charlesson took part in the hit ABC drama in 1977, winning over 2,000 episodes during the show. She eventually became the longest gear cast member of the series.
The actress recreated her “general hospital” roles in “General Hospital: Night Shift” and “Port Charles.”
Before raising her big break, the actress began her acting career in the 1960s in small roles in “The World Change” and “The Fire of the Wind.”
She later appeared in over 1,400 episodes of “Love is Many Great Things.” There she played Iris Donnelly Garrison.
During her stint on the show, she caught the eye of Ron Howard and starred as Mrs. Dorothy Kimber in the episode of “Happy Days.”
After creating his own name in the soap world, Charleseson also appeared as a guest star on “Friends” in an episode entitled “The One Where The Stripper Cries.”
In the episode, Charlesson appeared as himself when he faced Joey Trivinani in “The Pyramid.”
