“General Hospital” fans will have to say goodbye to another Port Charles resident after Chad Duell revealed he is leaving the popular daytime TV show.
Duell, 37, played Michael Corinthos on the soap opera for 14 years, starting with the first episode in 2010.
“After an incredible year on General Hospital, I have decided to step away from the show,” Duell wrote on Instagram. “This was not an easy decision for me, but I feel it is the right time in my life.”

He added, “I would like to thank Frank Valentini, the cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes for being like family to me during this incredible journey.”

Duell thanked his fans, saying, “From the bottom of my heart, for your unwavering support and for making Michael Corinthos a part of your life.”

“Your love and encouragement meant so much to me,” he wrote. “This is not goodbye, let's meet again.”

“General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed Duel's departure from the show in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.
“Saddened to hear the news that Chad Duell will be leaving #GeneralHospital soon,” he said. “I have loved working with Chad over the years and wish him all the best. He is a great actor and will be missed by everyone at #GH.

Valentini continued, “There are no plans to change the role at this time, but we won't know until the day comes. When Chad steps down in the new year, we can guarantee a great story for Michael and his family.”
In addition to receiving six Emmy nominations, Duel won the 2015 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He appeared in more than 1,500 episodes of the award-winning show.
Last month, the cast of General Hospital was rocked again after Kelly Monaco revealed in a now-deleted Instagram post that she was filming her “final scenes with Mr. and Mrs. Davis.” .

Monaco appeared on the show 2,000 times over 21 years as Samantha McCall. Her character died on the show in the October 30th episode.
