Genesis Unveils the New GV90 Electric SUV
Genesis, the luxury arm of Hyundai Motor Group, is set to introduce a new electric SUV, the GV90, which boasts an impressive estimated range of over 300 miles. This model comes equipped with a suite of advanced technology features aimed at enhancing the driving experience.
With a projected travel range of around 310 miles on a full charge, the GV90’s battery is designed to recharge from 10% to 80% in roughly 22 minutes, provided users have access to a 350-kilowatt fast charger. This information was shared in a recent announcement from Genesis.
“Our new flagship SUV captures our vision for the future while reflecting the best of Genesis, rooted in the distinct Korean values of hospitality and craftsmanship that have shaped our journey,” said José Muñoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, in a statement.
The SUV will be available in two variants: standard and Neolun.
The standard GV90 features conventional doors, while the Neolun variant showcases coach-style doors that swing open in opposite directions. This design offers a wider entry, which Genesis claims makes it more convenient for passengers to enter and exit the vehicle.
In terms of safety, the GV90 is equipped with 12 airbags, including a new roof airbag designed to deploy in severe rollover incidents. Additionally, it includes reinforced structural components, improved battery safety, and an interior monitoring system.
Inside, the GV90 is highlighted by a pop-up OLED cinematic display, a 25-inch head-up display, and an infotainment system called Pleos Connect, along with a generative AI assistant known as Gleo AI. Notably, a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D audio system enhances the in-cabin experience. The Neolun variant further adds motorized front seats that can rotate 180 degrees when parked, allowing occupants to engage in conversations face-to-face, which could be great for both socializing and business interactions.
Hyundai Motor Group’s Executive Chair Euisun Chung referred to the GV90 as a “new vision for luxury mobility.” He emphasized, “Technology alone does not create luxury, and design alone does not define luxury. The essence of innovation lies in transforming the customer experience in intelligent and intuitive ways.”
Hyundai has yet to announce specific details regarding the sale start date for the GV90.
