Eugenie “Genie” Bouchard shows off her gardening skills and a matching two-piece.
The Canadian tennis pro shared several photos on Instagram over the weekend that showed her outdoors tending to her garden in a green bikini.
Captioned “Sunday Yard Work,” the post shows Bouchard, 30, raking leaves and watering the lawn in Miami.
“My favorite post ever,” one fan wrote, adding a fire emoji.
Tennis player turned pickleball pro Sam Querrey also joked in the comments, saying, “I was actually thinking about doing a similar photo montage later this week.”
Bouchard’s post came on the heels of a recent podcast appearance in which she explained how tennis’ “sex appeal” has contributed to her rise to fame.
“Tennis is, first of all, a great sport in terms of sex appeal.” “I think it’s a big part of what we do,” Bouchard said in a June interview. with YouTuber Valeria Lipovetsky. “We wear short skirts and tank tops. It’s fun to turn on the TV and see that. Soon, we were getting some great marketing deals off the court. We were asked to be in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue a few times.
“It’s definitely been on my to-do list to explore that avenue. I think it’s a great thing to do, so it’s definitely a part of me.”
Bouchard, a former world number five, reached the Wimbledon final in 2014, losing to Petra Kvitova.
She endured injuries over the years and took time to return from shoulder surgery in 2021.
Bouchard, who competed at the 2023 Guadalajara Open where she lost in the round of 32 to Veronica Kudermetova, frequently posts about her travels and training on social media, continuing to grow her vast following.
“Why keep yourself in a box? Why not get bigger, get better, go beyond tennis and explore other areas?,” she says. “Tennis is the only thing I know, but it can’t be the only thing I do in life. So I found it really interesting to be in magazines and to work in fashion and I realised I really enjoy those things too.”
