“He stated that he had taken a biology class and knew where to put the stab for maximum effect,” Judd said.
Sheriff Judd went on to say that Manny was “a genius and extremely talented.”
Sheriff Judd said he stabbed his mother more than 70 times and stabbed her again when she tried to get off the ground.

“He said he stabbed her further because he noticed her hand was still moving, and in his confession he told detectives that he cut his hand with the knife as he stabbed his mother. Then, as he was standing at the kitchen sink, after washing himself and grabbing a knife, he tried to ask his mother for Neosporin for the cut on his hand, only to find that his mother was dead. ,” Judd said.
Sheriff Judd said Manny immediately called 911 and played the audio to reporters. In the audio, Manny can be heard admitting to the murder.

The sheriff noted that Manny has no history of drug abuse, alcohol abuse or mental health issues. He said Manny had no criminal history.
Sheriff Judd said Manny was the youngest of three children and valedictorian of the 2020 Frostproof class. He said that he is said to be a “genius.”
“He reportedly said at his high school graduation: “High school is just one of many chapters in our lives. “There is still much to accomplish in the future that will determine what legacy we leave behind in 2020,” said Sheriff Judd.
Sheriff Judd added that detectives searched his room at the University of Florida and found nothing to indicate he had planned to kill his mother.

“This is one of the strangest murder cases we’ve dealt with in a long time,” Judd said. “And seeing that he left behind a family that loved him, a mother who just adores her children, who is at this very moment at Ben Hill Griffin Elementary School, creating a future, teaching second graders… It’s incomprehensible that we should have educated them about what happened that day. ”
Manny Espinoza was booked into the Polk County Jail and charged with first-degree murder.
