Show Must Go On

George Clooney, at 64, managed to attend the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of his film “Jay Kelly,” despite having to skip several promotional appearances due to a “bad sinus infection.”

The acclaimed actor, who portrays a fictional movie star in the upcoming drama, seemed happy as he walked the red carpet with his wife, Amal Clooney, on Thursday evening in Italy.

Clooney sported a classic black tuxedo paired with a white shirt and a black bow tie. Meanwhile, Amal dazzled in a strapless fuchsia mini dress that boasted a long train, highlighting her toned legs.

During their red carpet moment, Clooney briefly coughed but quickly regained his composure, posing for photos with Amal.

A reporter’s voice rang out over the crowd, asking, “How about George?” but it appeared that Clooney didn’t quite catch the question.

The “Ides of March” star, who recently collaborated with CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow in Broadway’s “Goodnight, Good Luck,” seemed unaffected by the interruption.

Clooney shared the spotlight with his co-star Adam Sandler, who plays the role of Clooney’s character’s manager in the film, set for theatrical release on November 14th.

Unfortunately, Clooney’s illness meant he missed a dinner the previous night with his fellow cast members, including Sandler and Laura Dern.

His voice work in “Fantastic Mr. Fox” also kept him from attending a press event on Wednesday and Netflix’s official press conference on Thursday.

Noah Baumbach, the director of “Jay Kelly,” addressed Clooney’s health during a Netflix event, telling reporters, “You may know, but George Clooney is not here due to a bad sinus infection. We really thought he should be on the red carpet tonight, but it’s unfortunate he can’t join us.”

Baumbach lightheartedly remarked, “Even movie stars get sick.”

A representative for Clooney mentioned that the actor had been advised by doctors to limit his activities for the day because of his condition.
