George Clooney has not written any words about President Donald Trump.
In a new interview with Broadway legend Patty Lepon Variety “Actors: Broadway” seriesthe Oscar-winning actor and longtime Democrat predicted that Trump would simply “walk away” when he took office. Clooney made comments during a broader conversation about the political cycle and the enduring influence of authoritarian figures.
“From President Jackson [Joseph] McCarthy, this is authoritarians, this is demagogues, it goes away when they leave,” Clooney said, referring to Trump.
“And he’ll leave,” he added.

Clooney was not embarrassed to acknowledge Trump’s magnetism.
“They are [Republican Party] No one is as charismatic as he is. He is charismatic. I won’t take it from him. He’s a TV star,” he said.
Clooney was also more optimistic than many of his compatriots. This period of history, like the volatile nature of the 1960s, was much more dangerous than other stages of American history.
“We were in a much worse place,” he said. “What’s different is the source of information and how many different sources and sources. It’s the only one. But even if it’s violent, it’s not that violent. It’s not as hopeless as it is at the moment.”
Clooney has often been seen as a Democratic ally, but he has not hesitated to criticize party leaders. Earlier this month, in a CNN interview with Jake Tupper, Clooney discussed the backlash she received after writing a guest essay for the New York Times, which encouraged former President Joe Biden to withdraw the 2024 race.

Just a few weeks after the essay, Biden dropped out and cleared his way to become a Democratic candidate for Vice President Kamala Harris. Clooney told Tupper that he felt he was trying to speak up as the party leader kept denying the president’s cognitive decline.
As for the Democratic future, Clooney came to mind as leaders such as Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. He told Lupone: “We need people to represent us better, to better represent people who have a sense of humor and a sense of purpose.”
Clooney also expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to nominate Harris without primary. Still, he remains optimistic, claiming, along with a stronger candidate, that Democrats have a real shot at retrieving their homes from Republicans.
“I think we’ll get home back in a year and a half, and that’s a balance between checking power,” Clooney told Lupone.

Last month, Trump worked on a true society to criticize the actor after interviewing “60 Minutes,” calling him a “two-time film star” and a “failed political commentator.”
