George Conway Allegedly Approaching Congressional Run After Revealing Support for 'Antifa'

George Conway Mulls Congressional Run in New York

George Conway, known for his anti-Trump stance, is reportedly contemplating a run for Congress as a Democrat in New York, according to CNN.

Conway, who co-founded the anti-Trump Lincoln Project and was previously a Republican, is eyeing New York’s 12th Congressional District. This seat is currently held by Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler, who recently announced his retirement. An unnamed source provided this information to CNN.

It seems Conway hasn’t made any official comments regarding his potential candidacy.

He has gained attention as a prominent critic of Donald Trump. For instance, he expressed concerns in April, arguing that Trump was undermining “democracy” and the “rule of law.” Moreover, in October, he participated in a protest in Washington, D.C., wearing a shirt that read, “I am Antifa.”

In July 2024, he went on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” where he referred to Trump as a “psychopath” and declared that he had concluded long ago that Trump posed a significant threat to the nation.

On October 29, Conway tweeted that “the world realized Trump was crazy” and questioned why others would still pretend otherwise.

Currently, Conway serves as the president of the Society for the Rule of Law, an organization that aims to defend the Constitution and the rule of law. He also co-hosts a podcast called “George Conway Explains Everything” alongside Sarah Longwell, another figure from the “Never Trump” movement.

Although Conway is registered as an independent, New York’s election laws permit candidates to pursue a party’s nomination without being a registered member. Notably, he is the ex-husband of Kellyanne Conway, a former advisor to Trump.

In related news, Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, recently launched his own campaign in the same district. His mother, Caroline Kennedy, has expressed concerns that her son’s political ambitions could attract negative attention, as reported by the New York Post.
