George Conway expects Trump to violate hush money gag order: ‘He can’t help himself’

Conservative lawyer George Conway said he expected former President Trump to violate the gag order imposed by the New York judge overseeing the hush money trial.

“At some point, I think he’s going to be helpless,” Conway said Thursday of the former president on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “He’s going to end up violating the gag order, and it’s going to be an interesting, interesting moment.”

Conway’s comments came after Judge Juan Marchand imposed a gag order on Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, earlier this week. The law prohibits commenting publicly about witnesses, prosecutors, court officials, or their family members “if the comments are made with the intent of seriously interfering” with the case.

The order followed persistent attacks by Trump on social media, including one targeting Marchand’s daughter, Lauren, a Democratic political consultant.

Although the gag order does not prevent Mr. Trump from attacking Mr. Marchand, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D), or their families, the judge ruled that Mr. Trump’s decision to impose the order It said it reflected the “nature and impact” of his comments on his “family.” member,” and two prosecutors.

“He always tries to find the one thing he can do. If he had a list of things he couldn’t do or didn’t think he could get away with, he’d have no conscience about it. I feel no compunction,” the Trump critic said. “He has no conscience.”

The lawyer, who is in the final stages of divorcing Trump’s former aide Kellyanne Conway, said the president may eventually be so tempted to push the envelope that it could lead to him violating the gag order. He said he expected there to be.

“I mean, he’s probably already violated some other gag orders, but especially when he actually goes into court on April 15th and has to sit there and listen to all the evidence. ‘You’ll see him push the limits as far as he can,’ listen to the arguments against them and against them,’ Conway said.

The gag order against Marchan follows a speech restraining order issued in a civil fraud case in New York and a federal criminal case related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, which President Trump has faced in recent months. This is the third case.

President Trump illegally falsified business records when paying off Michael Cohen, the former fixer who paid adult film actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an affair in the run-up to the 2016 election. He faces 34 charges in New York as a result of the allegations. He pleaded not guilty.

Hill called on the Trump campaign to respond.
