George Conway, a commentator and frequent opponent of former President Trump, called the presumptive Republican presidential nominee a “global joke” on a recent podcast.
“In MAGA country, people don’t understand that Donald Trump is a global joke on the world,” Conway said. Said “They think of Donald Trump as this tough guy who scares everybody,” Trump said on Thursday’s episode of the “George Conway Explains It All (to Sarah Longwell)” podcast.
Longwell and Conway, a Republican strategist and critic of President Trump, discussed the upcoming debate between Trump and former President Biden and the legal hurdles facing the former president.
“One of the things the Biden campaign needs to do going into the debate next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is to start attacking Trump in a way that’s going to be very frustrating for him,” Conway said on the podcast. “Talk about conviction, make fun of his slurred speech, do all of that, but kick it into overdrive in the three or four days leading up to the debate.”

Biden and Trump are scheduled to debate on CNN in Atlanta on Thursday night. Trump acknowledged that he “interrupted Biden too much” in the first 2020 debate, a point New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman made last week. Biden’s performance there was particularly widely panned.
“Trump has told people multiple times that he was aware that he interrupted too frequently in the first debate with Biden in 2020, and I recently rewatched the debate and was really shocked,” Haberman said.
“We were all talking about it at the time, and Biden was barely able to say a word and just smiling the whole time,” Haberman added.
