As for Aaron Rogers, there may be smoke coming from the steel city.
In August 2024, a clip of controversial Steelers recipient George Pickens discussed who his ideal teammate was and began making rounds again in light of rumors, with Pittsburgh four times odds of betting that will soon tie the NFL MVP to free agents.
“My dream teammates are probably Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers, Ed Reed, etc.” Pickens said in a clip posted on his @Overtimeszn Tiktok account on August 4, 2024, Dream Teammates and Dream Team I said as I discussed my mate.
Rodgers became one of the more interesting free agents after he officially became a former Jettman, and many linked him to the Steelers, who don't have a quarterback on his 2025 contract.
The odds of the bet initially made the Steelers an overwhelming favourite for the Landrogers.
The clip has also resurfaced, but alongside the Steelers' safe Deshon Elliott, there are some interesting photos of Rogers.
“Leave his ass in retirement home,” Elliot wrote under an Instagram post listing the Steelers as a bet favorite to land Rogers on February 12th.
The Steelers were far from the choir boys along with their team, so they are unlikely to move on Pickens' suggestions, but Rogers can represent the upgrade.
Justin Fields went 4-2 as a starter last year before Mike Tomlin decided to move to Russell Wilson.
Rodgers' stats look better than the actual production with 11 intercepts and 28 touchdowns against 3,897 yards.
It's hard to see the Steelers appearing in their faces, but the field is their quarterback after benching him, and Wilson is a bad option after his late flops.
The Steelers have their 21st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, a quarterback down year.
Rogers has spoken enthusiastically about Tomlin in the past. Tomlin could see Rodgers as a quarterback and give him the best chance to compete in 2025.
But speculation lies on the 41-year-old who wants to run it for another season after the Jets ended in a brutal way and after the Jets ended in a brutal 5-12 season.
The Jets already say they are moving ahead of Rogers.
