George Pickens is being traded to the Cowboys from the Steelers, according to a report.

Earlier this offseason, during the NFL league meetings, Stephen Jones of the Dallas Cowboys expressed a desire to acquire two wide receivers to line up alongside CeeDee Lamb. This fueled speculation that the Cowboys might target receivers in the first round of the draft, possibly considering Texas’ Matthew Golden and Arizona’s Tetaroa McMillan.

However, Dallas took a different route and selected guard Tyler Booker at the 12th pick instead.

Now, we might understand the rationale behind this decision.

Multiple reports indicate that the Cowboys are working with the Pittsburgh Steelers on a trade to bring wide receiver George Pickens to Dallas. According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, the finalization of this deal is anticipated to occur today.

Ian Rapoport further elaborated that the trade terms will likely involve the third pick and some later round selections.

The Steelers have had a busy offseason, signing a top receiver for five years, with contracts reaching up to $150 million. They’ve also brought in Robert Woods as well.

Pickens was drafted by the Steelers in the second round in 2022 and delivered a solid performance last season with 59 receptions and three touchdowns. Overall, he recorded at least 50 catches, 800 yards, and three touchdowns in each season with Pittsburgh. However, with contract year uncertainties surrounding his future, questions lingered about his long-term role there.

It looks like he’s found a new home now.

CeeDee Lamb, on social media, seemed quite excited about the news.
