George Pickens wasted little time heading to the locker room after the Dallas Cowboys let a 14-point fourth-quarter lead slip away against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Dallas led 24-10 early in the fourth, but Arizona outscored the Cowboys 20-6 the rest of regulation. The Cardinals completed the comeback in overtime, winning 33-30 on a 42-yard field goal with just under three minutes left.
The defeat dropped Dallas to 3-5, with three of those losses coming at home. A video circulating online showed Pickens sprinting through the stadium’s fan area toward the locker room moments after the winning kick went through the uprights. There may have been a slight delay between the action on the field and what fans saw on the stadium screens, but he still moved quickly.
Pickens’ frustration may have been compounded by a quiet game. He finished with two catches for 48 yards on four targets, his second-lowest target total of the season. CeeDee Lamb, by comparison, was targeted 11 times by quarterback Dak Prescott.
At 3-5, the Cowboys have plenty of ground to make up, though the NFC East remains within reach. The New York Giants currently lead the division at 4-2-1.
Dallas faces the 2-6 Indianapolis Colts in Week 9. It’s a game the Cowboys will likely need to win to stay in the divisional race.
