Socialist mayoral candidate Brad Lander's campaign has accepted thousands of dollars from billionaire Democrat donor George Soros despite his attempt to distance himself from the radical left.
Campaign finance records show that the awakened nonprofit pushed the anti-Israel, anti-cop agenda, which was a private donation to Lander and the city's director in June. Lander is so far the only mayoral candidate Soros has donated.
“Rander is perfect for Soros' gangsters,” said political strategist Hank Shenkop. “He was a public supporter of Israeli boycotts, sale sanctions and a member of the democratic socialists in America,” Shenkopf pointed out.
But in the past few months, Lander has been bending the far left policy, and last month announced plans to hire more officers and crack down on gun violence.
Despite the backtrack, Schenkop suggested that Lander “have to go back to who he really is to get the money to become mayor.”
Soros previously donated to Lander's 2021 Secretary, $5,000, but has repaid $2,000. And his sons Alexander and Jonathan and daughter-in-law Jennifer also gave them $5,100, $250 and $500 respectively.
Early in this election cycle, Jonathan and Jennifer Soros passed on to the state legislator's mayoral campaign, and Jennifer later gave to Senator Jessica Ramos.
Criticized for Hamas' terrorist attacks and his response to the burgeoning anti-Semitism, Lander has been accused of selling the urban pension fund from Israeli bonds on political reasons his campaign denied.
He previously received a donation from Professor Katherine Franke of the radical anti-Israel Columbia University, but has not returned it, according to campaign finance records.
Soros and his left acolite funded radical anti-Israel protests at universities around the country following the attack on October 7, 2023.
Soros has helped Alvin Bragg launch soft crime district lawyers. His Open Society Foundation leader had easy access to the former Biden White House.
Recent polls showed Lander was able to grab 31% of the vote in the Democratic primary, just behind former government Andrew Cuomo, and ahead of state legislator Zoran Mamdani.
“Bloodlander takes money from special benefits like George Soros, pretending to be a grassroots candidate. He's a fake that's always bought and paid,” Queens Councillor Robert Holden told the Post.
Lander currently leads all mayoral candidates with a war chest worth around $6.7 million.
The Lander and Soros spokesmen did not respond to inquiries from the post.
