Georgia's current beauty queen has been arrested and charged in the death of her 18-month-old baby boy, authorities announced.
Trinity Pogue, 18, was arrested Friday, according to online Sumter County Sheriff's Office jail records. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced in a press release that it was asked by the Georgia Southwestern State University Police Department to investigate the death of a child on January 14 at approximately 2 p.m.
The boy was admitted to the emergency room at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus. Hospital staff attempted to rescue him, but he later died.
GBI agents arrested Pogue after questioning and examining evidence. She is the reigning Miss Donalsonville, FOX 5 ATLANTA I will report.

The victim was identified as Jaxton “JD” Williams by Cecilia Smith, a close friend of the infant's father. Smith set up a GoFundMe to support her grieving father, whom she named Julian “Ja” Williams.
Smith told Fox News that Pogue was Julianne's girlfriend and that the child lived full time with her father.
“We're all so hurt and confused. It's just an incredible feeling,” Smith said. “Jay is trying to cope as best as he can, but it's clearly a very tough situation for him. He doesn't want to talk to anyone about anything right now.”

Pogue graduated from Southwest Georgia Academy before enrolling at Georgia Southwestern State University, WTVY reported.
She is being held in the Sumter County Jail without bail. She is charged with aggravated assault, child abuse and felony murder.

Trinity Pogue is the current Miss Donalsonville.

A spokesperson for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office said the investigation is ongoing and the GBI urges anyone with information to call 1-800-597-TIPS (8477) or submit information to the GBI online. He said he is asking them to do so.
