Georgia boy, 12, suffers second-degree burns from boiling water sleepover prank, mom Tiffany West

A 12-year-old Georgia boy was hospitalized with severe burns after his friends poured boiling water on his face while he was sleeping during a sleepover prank gone awry.

The unsuspecting minor was sleeping in a neighbor's apartment in Tifton, Georgia, while three other boys, ages 12 to 15, were playing video games. Her mother, Tiffany West, I told Walb.

West said one of the boys believed pouring boiling water on the preschooler was a funny prank, resulting in second-degree burns, mostly on his face.

West's son was taken to a burn center in Augusta, where he underwent surgery and is now recovering at home, she told the publication.

A heartbroken mother was furious at the dangerous act that injured her child.

“I mean, I can't really explain it right now. At that moment, I was just angry, hurt, shocked. Everything was looking red. I just wanted to rush and get him help. I just did it,” she said.

The three boys were arrested but released to their families pending a court hearing next month, the newspaper reported.

The boy's aunt, Nachelle Austill, asked him if he was angry or sad, but the boy showed no emotion when he returned home.

“He's become numb to it,” she said.

“You would be shocked to know that your friend could do something like this to you. It's really terrible, like someone you trusted. I never thought it would happen,” Austill added.

The family has been in a difficult situation since quitting their jobs due to the incident, and are facing rising medical costs as it takes 12 to 14 days to recover.

“Ever since this happened while we were traveling, my brother and Tiffany have lost their jobs,” Austill said. “She's still going to take time off work to take care of him until he recovers. She has to be here for him.”

A loving aunt said her nephew needed counseling to recover mentally from the incident and “be able to trust people again.”

West took to Facebook to thank people for their donations and “words of encouragement” as he helped his son recover from his injuries.

“I have noticed so much love being shown to my son!” she wrote. “Words cannot express how grateful I am to each and every one of you. It brings tears to my eyes to know that so many people care about me and my son and that we are not alone. ”

West called her son a “warrior and strong” and expressed gratitude for the donations received.

“Everything you donate is for my son and I am so grateful. Every donation, gift, word of encouragement and prayer has brought a smile to my son's face,” she added. Ta.
