A Georgia mother accused of trying to kill her daughter’s sexual abuser has been found guilty of murder and other charges after another person was shot and killed in the incident.
Dan’Ale Harris, 42, was convicted of felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
On March 31, 2020, Harris allegedly discovered a video of her then-12-year-old daughter having sex with a man later identified as 22-year-old Antonio Hurley, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. .
According to investigators, around 3:30 a.m. the next day, Harris reported the information to a DeKalb County police officer in the department’s Special Victims Unit. The officer told Harris that detectives would contact him and warned him not to get angry and seek revenge.

But hours later, Harris drove a group of people to an apartment complex near the intersection of Wesley Chapel Road and Snapfinger Road to confront Hurley on charges of sexually abusing his daughter. Three members of the group were armed with handguns.
Around 1 p.m., Harris asked her daughter to tell her which apartment Harley lived in. Harris then knocked on the front door with the rest of the group behind him.
Hurley didn’t open the door, but went around the side of the apartment to see who was inside. Harris and the rest of the group then begin chasing Hurley, but Hurley manages to get back inside the apartment through the back door.
Shortly after Hurley closed the door, one of the group outside fired a gun, hitting Hurley in the chest. Hurley’s brother, who was inside the apartment, opened fire to protect himself and his five younger brothers.

Juan Newkirk, 19, who was part of the group Harris brought to the apartment, was killed in the gunfight.
DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Asha F. Jackson, who presided over the trial, sentenced Harris to life in prison with the possibility of parole plus five years.
Two other people involved in the incident were also charged.
Hurley escaped injury but was later charged with statutory rape, child molestation and sexual exploitation of a child. His case is still pending.
